6th Annual Red Shoe Shindig: A Night in Oz

Ronald McDonald House Charities® of Arkoma invited guests to follow the yellow brick road to Hardscrabble Country Club for another lively and well-attended event. The Dorothy-inspired 6th Annual Red Shoe Shindig was held Saturday, October 1st, 2016. We were swept away over the rainbow to Do South’s Red Shoe Lounge and enjoyed "Lemondrops". Following the cocktail hour, guests were treated to a seated dinner, live auction and small silent auction. All proceeds of the event stay local, benefitting the Fort Smith Family Room at Mercy Hospital.

Red Shoe Shindig was presented by McDonalds, Tyson, and Mercy. Television personality and former Razorback star Rossi Morreale served as emcee. A highlight of the evening was the presentation of the Lily Award to the Udouj Family. Named in memory of Lillian Paige Pruitt, the infant daughter of Susan and Clay Pruitt, the Lily Award honors a person or group whose work has touched the families who stay in the Ronald McDonald Family Room. There was also be a special after-party sponsored by Glidewell Distributing with a DJ for guests who aren’t quite ready to leave Oz.

The River Valley community has been hugely supportive of the Ronald McDonald Family Room®, which recently celebrated its’ 5th anniversary. Many of the Red Shoe Shindig committee members and past attendees have also served as regular volunteers at the Family Room, and provide much-needed donations of the food, toiletries, cleaning supplies and more that are necessary to make families feel welcome and comfortable during a difficult time.
