Ronald McDonald House
at Washington Regional
We are excited to announce the opening of a Ronald McDonald House at Washington Regional Medical Center in Fayetteville, Arkansas. The House will serve approximately 1,500 families each year, nearly doubling the overall impact of our organization. Through this program, families of ill children will be able to be present and involved in their child’s hospitalization and treatment, while helping them in the healing process.
The first Ronald McDonald House in Northwest Arkansas provides a "home-away-from-home" for families while keeping them close to their healing child. “This program will provide a comfortable place where families can relax and regroup, while finding the support and encouragement needed to cope better with the uncertainty that comes with the illness of a child,” says Stephanie Medford, President and CEO of RMHC of Arkoma.
This 6,200 square foot space includes the amenities families need to feel at ease, such as 6 bedroom suites with full baths, laundry room, kitchen and fully stocked pantry, dining room, and playroom. Families will never be charged for their stay, no matter their circumstances. The House also enables family members to engage in direct communication with the healthcare team, helping them be more involved in decisions related to their child’s care. The support from the staff, volunteers and other families offers them a sense of normalcy, which helps them better support their ill child while they receive treatment.
