The Ronald McDonald House Charities® of Arkoma is celebrating the fifth anniversary of its Ronald McDonald Family Room® in Fort Smith’s on Tuesday, December 8th, 2015. The River Valley community is invited to celebrate the milestone with us at the Sicard Room located on the first floor of Mercy Fort Smith from 11:00 am to 1:00 pm for a ribbon cutting, special guest Mayor Sandy Sanders, Family Room tours, snacks, and more!
The Ronald McDonald Family Room® in Fort Smith has been a place of respite and relaxation to over 2,340 families since opening in December 2010. The space includes four bedrooms for overnight stays or daytime naps, full baths, a kitchen with warm meals prepared daily, a television room, a library with a computer, laundry facilities, and more always provided at no cost to families. This year, the 326 families served stayed an average of 6 nights each. That’s almost a whole week away from home while their child fights for their life! It’s our goal to keep every family close to their child during this trying time. “Without [The Ronald McDonald Family Room in Fort Smith], I do not know what I would have done,” says The Newtons. “We are so grateful for the Ronald McDonald Family Room,” says the Hall Family, “It’s kept us close to our son around the clock. This has been such a blessing!” Come see this place of respite and healing for yourself on December 8th, 2015.
We have only been able to support this many families with the generous and continuous support of the Fort Smith community! Thank you so much for playing a vital role in keeping local families close.
